A South Korean-born artist + printmaker based in the greater Seattle area. Moon has exhibited at venues including Seattle’s Davidson Galleries, Gallery IMA, Wing Luke Museum and Seattle Asian Art Museum.

Moon's art is inspired by one's spiritual connection to oneself and also to others. In society, there is an interesting dynamic between these two themes of inclusion into and seclusion from society. In both, there are lessons of self-realization, participation and contribution. Moon wrestles with these lessons especially in recent years where the climate of equality, diversity and solitude are challenged in the age of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Her exploration in these themes is captured compositionally in a series of three layers. The base layer may be a background color which symbolizes the precious memory of a situation. The next layer is the drawing, sketch or print (ie in the form of an etching), and bridges precious to intense emotions of the event. The foreground layer is the most dynamic which illustrates emotion. Emotions are channeled through red strokes. It is these three layers, as a whole that structure the spiritual connections to oneself and/or society.

As a printmaker, Moon uses monoprint, etching, linocut, chine colle, aquatint, etc. as her tools for her exploration in her art-making.

Moon has a BFA in Oriental Painting from Hong-Ik University in Seoul, South Korea. Moon studied Printmaking from Cornish College of Fine Art in Seattle and Central Saint Martin Art + Design in London, United Kingdom.
